What is that?

Welcome to our motorhome site directly on the banks of the Danube in Hainburg, a charming medieval town with modern infrastructure. Enjoy the magnificent location on the historic Danube Limes, offering both relaxation and adventure. Our pitches are located near the town center of Hainburg an der Donau, which is easily accessible on foot. The town offers excellent infrastructure with train and bus connections to Vienna and Bratislava, unique tourist attractions, numerous shopping opportunities, banks, a post office, doctors, a hospital, as well as cozy cafés, restaurants, traditional 'Heuriger' wine taverns, and an outdoor pool at the foot of the Braunsberg. Start your unforgettable active tours in and around the city directly from your pitch. Explore the wonderful cycling paths, such as the Danube Cycle Path which passes right by the site, and picturesque hiking trails like the VIA.MONTE. circular route and the well-marked National Park trails. Enjoy stunning views and the tranquility of nature. Immerse yourself in Hainburg's fascinating past with regular medieval city tours or explore the unique medieval sights independently (Hearonymus audio guide available). To name just a few highlights: 2.5 km of city walls, 3 preserved city gates, and 15 towers dating back to the early 13th century. This makes Hainburg an der Donau one of the oldest and best-preserved city fortifications in Europe! Visit the nearby top excursions in the Carnuntum-Marchfeld region, such as the Roman City of Carnuntum, the magnificent Marchfeld Palaces, or the metropolises of Vienna and Bratislava, which are just a stone's throw away. Since July 2024, the Danube parking area has been named 'Jon-Fosse-Platz'. The renowned Norwegian writer and Nobel Prize winner in Literature (2023) has a favorite spot here in his second home of Hainburg, where he loves to linger and find literary inspiration. Whether you want to enjoy nature and the view of the Danube, discover historical sites, or simply unwind – the Hainburg an der Donau campsite provides the ideal base for an unforgettable stay.

Very simple pitch, although nicely located on the Danube, it is quite noisy due to the railway line.
Comment from Nomady
Park Overnight gibt höher frequentierten Plätzen in naturnaher Lage einen zweiten Nutzen. So werden bestehende Infrastrukturen effizient genutzt und legale Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten geschaffen.

Great pitch with a magnificent view of the Danube, but without water and electricity connection, perfectly sufficient for one night
Really nice spot right by the Danube! However: The public toilet on-site is completely unacceptable. An imposition not only for campers, but also for the town's residents and visitors. Dear Hainburg city councilors: Don't just collect money...!!!
The location is very beautiful, right on the Danube. Unfortunately, the four parking spaces marked on the large parking lot are often blocked by regular cars. And the toilet hut is public and freely accessible and therefore unfortunately correspondingly unkempt (dirty and without toilet paper or soap).
You pay €23 for the "location", especially the 3 (out of 7) slightly wider pitches. Great view of the Danube with a small marina and a dock for paddle boats. Otherwise, as described on the website, no waste disposal or fresh water services whatsoever. Just 3 small trash bins. The remaining 4 pitches are simply lengthened car parking spaces. Lucky are those with sliding doors; otherwise, camper tourists unfortunately can't get out of their vehicle.
